ANIMATED FILM

  • INCREDIBLES 2 Brad Bird, John Walker
  • ISLE OF DOGS Wes Anderson, Jeremy Dawson
  • SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, Rodney Rothman, Phil Lord

Our Winner:

  • Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse – Whilst Isle of Dogs shows a director taking risks with his form if not with his content, Spider-Verse throws all superhero films away (wether animated or live action) and takes a completely fresh look at a beloved character. This film really could be the kick up the arse Marvel and DC studios have needed for sometime and it will be an absolute travesty if the gong goes elsewhere.

The BAFTA Winner

  • Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

Incredibles 2 2018 The story is a definate improvement on the original, but still feels light and overly reliant on the Jack-Jack gimmick. Gordon 7
Isle of Dogs 2018 A wonderful oddball film that comes so close to greatness, only to run out of steam half an hour too soon. Wes Anderson shows no signs of running out of steam and can now add 'acclaimed animation director' to his resume. Gordon 8
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2018 At last the Spider-Man story has been taken into a bold new direction. Introducing Miles Morales and the Spider-Verse is a masterstroke and the best Spider-Man film since Toby Maguire fought Doc Oc. Gordon 8
