Gordon ‘SirClive’ Sinclair is the founder of MovieMuse. A child of the 70s with his heart in the eighties, his dream is to one day wake up like Alex Drake and relive that glorious decade.
A long time classic video gamer, Gordon founded Replay Events, a company dedicated to showcasing the best retro consoles and computers of the last 40 years.
With his unhealthy love of Stallone movies and an obsessive need to watch every film ever nominated for a major award, he is aways ready with an (un?)educated opinion.
Away from MovieMuse Gordon is an avid follower of Liverpool and Huddersfield Town football clubs and lives in Halifax with his Star Wars loving fiancée Nancy.
Gordon is responsible for the MovieMuse website and co-edits the MovieMuse podcast.

Gordon’s Reviews
Poster | Movie | Year | Comments | Rating |
---|---|---|---|---|
XX | 2017 | A horror anthology of 4 short films written and directed by women. Unfortunately the four films range from OK to absolutely terrible and are hung together by poor animations of stereotypical horror iconography. | 4 | |
Their Finest | 2016 | A very 'nice' period romance that will offend no-one with its perfectly pleasant demeanour. Arterton as always is delightful and all the more endearing for her cutesy welsh accent. | 7 | |
King Kong | 1933 | For a film over 80 years old it still stands up as one of the greatest monster movies. The special effects are matched by the wonderful story that must have truly felt like the eighth wonder all those years ago. | 8 | |
The LEGO Batman Movie | 2017 | It is the nods to other cinematic superheroes that draw the most laughs and whilst the second half struggles to keep up the jokes per minute pace of the first to concentrate on the action, LEGO Batman is a much more complete offering than The LEGO Movie. | 8 | |
City of Tiny Lights | 2016 | Riz Ahmed makes a really interesting and intiguing PI, so it is most disappointing that he is put into such a stereotypical role (terrorism and cricket anyone?). One of the least thrilling thrillers in a long while. | 4 | |
Tracktown | 2016 | A film that spends so much time trying to be nice that it doesn't realise the drama that we are hoping will unfold. | 4 | |
Mindhorn | 2016 | A great opening half hour runs out of steam leaving Mindhorn as an amusing curiosity rather than the British comedy classic that some critics would have you believe. | 5 | |
The Guardians | 2017 | Every bit of the film swings from laughable to passable. The acting, the effects, the story and the humour. Not quite the Russian Avengers. Infact, not even close. | 5 | |
Beauty and the Beast | 2017 | An utterly pointless remake that does nothing in live action that the original didn't do in animation. Also has some of the worst blockbuster CGI of recent times. | 5 | |
John Wick: Chapter 2 | 2017 | Relentless and brutal action, but the film is a little too wrapped up in its own flash production that it fails to fully develop its excellent premise, leaving too much glitz where there should be grit. | 7 | |
North by Northwest | 1959 | A film screaming out for a modern remake, the leads are great and the scripting fun, but lacking in action (but no more than most 1950s films). | 7 | |
Going in Style | 2017 | A gentle and jolly comedy that but for the big name cast would be no more than a sunday afternoon cable film. | 6 | |
T2: Trainspotting | 2017 | Danny Boyle's ego gets in the way of a reasonably good visit to see some lost friends. Certainly not groundbreaking in the way the original was, but satisfying all the same. | 7 | |
Alien: Covenant | 2017 | Shockingly predictable and further proof that the franchise has nothing left to say. BUT, Covenant is still an enjoyable and entertaining couple of hours that is worthy of your time. | 6 | |
War Machine | 2017 | It is kind of silly and kind of pointless, but also kind of fun and kind of true. But let's be clear, Brad Pitt is absolutely terrible in the film! | 6 | |
The End of the Tour | 2015 | Great performances from Segal and Eisenberg, but never really becomes more than an interesting conversation. | 6 | |
Wonder Woman | 2017 | Fun and dumb. Does a good job of telling the origin story, but although Gadot is an alluring lead, I won't be rushing to watch it again any time soon. | 7 | |
Jawbone | 2017 | An alcoholic ex junior champion boxer battles much tougher demons than his opponent. Rocky for the real world. | 8 | |
Raw | 2016 | A ludicrous premise about a vegetarian who goes to vet school and becomes a cannibal. But that doesn't stop it being an enthralling and disturbing voyeuristic thrill. | 8 | |
Tron: Legacy | 2010 | As stylish as the original and one of the best scores in years. However a disappointing final third and some awful de-aging stop Legacy from being as revered as its inspiration. | 7 | |
John Wick | 2014 | Slight story and little in the way of invention, but the brutal violence and gritty characters carry the film off to a perfectly satisfactory, if not challenging conclusion. | 7 | |
The Lost Arcade | 2015 | At its best when wallowing in its reminiscent glow, the film loses its way a little when it hits the here and now. Regardless though it is a very well told tale of the death and rebirth of a lifetime kids today can never comprehend. | 7 | |
Tron | 1982 | A film ahead of its time, Tron holds up well in terms of its themes and setting. However the very 80s approach to story telling wanes a little too early for the film to truly stand out beyond its nostalgia. | 7 | |
The Subjects | 2016 | A single room thriller (reminiscent of The Exam) sees medical trial subjects locked in a lab after taking a mysterious pill. Dreadful acting and annoying characters hold the film back, but it is entertaining enough for one viewing. | 5 | |
CHiPs | 2017 | Despite some half=hearted jokes and plot mechanics (and silly insta-exploding cars!), Chips is still a very funny film with two great leads. I hope it gets a sequel. | 6 |
