Gordon ‘SirClive’ Sinclair is the founder of MovieMuse. A child of the 70s with his heart in the eighties, his dream is to one day wake up like Alex Drake and relive that glorious decade.
A long time classic video gamer, Gordon founded Replay Events, a company dedicated to showcasing the best retro consoles and computers of the last 40 years.
With his unhealthy love of Stallone movies and an obsessive need to watch every film ever nominated for a major award, he is aways ready with an (un?)educated opinion.
Away from MovieMuse Gordon is an avid follower of Liverpool and Huddersfield Town football clubs and lives in Halifax with his Star Wars loving fiancée Nancy.
Gordon is responsible for the MovieMuse website and co-edits the MovieMuse podcast.

Gordon’s Reviews
Poster | Movie | Year | Comments | Rating |
---|---|---|---|---|
Unlocked | 2017 | A surprisingly entertaining CIA in London action-thriller. Noomi Rapace suits the tough girl role, but Orlando Bloom sported a dodgy London accent in his underused role. | 6 | |
The Florida Project | 2017 | A beautifully voyeuristic look at the life of a six year old and her dysfunctional mother in the Florida equivalent of the urban projects - a run down motel outside Disney World. | 9 | |
Videodrome | 1983 | Classic Cronenberg body horror. Whilst the concept and effects of the killer VHS are outdated, the film stands the test of time and delivers a pleasingly twisted vision. | 7 | |
Green Zone | 2010 | An interesting look at the wild goose chase search for WMDs in Iraq that is dampened a little by Matt Damon being the most trusting military officer in history. | 6 | |
The Disaster Artist | 2017 | Rather than a movie about making a movie, this comes across as a mentally ill man having his delusions fed by a 'friend' for their own gain. Tells a good story, but not particularly well. | 5 | |
Brad's Status | 2017 | Middle-aged, middle-class, middle American moans about his lot in life. Offers little insight, but is relatively fun along the way. | 6 | |
The Shape of Water | 2017 | A wonderfully romantic tale of forbidden love between a mute cleaner and an other-worldly captive in a 1960s government research facility. | 8 | |
Goodbye Christopher Robin | 2017 | A charming recount of AA Milne and his troubled relationship with war and his son, the inspiration for the Winnie the Pooh stories. | 7 | |
Dunkirk | 2017 | Visually stunning and tonally sound, but Christopher Nolan's multi-timelined screenplay is a narrative let down. | 7 | |
I, Tonya | 2017 | A story I didn't realise I was interested in. The film is rough around the edges and in your face, but then so was Tonya. A surprising delight. | 8 | |
My Life as a Courgette | 2016 | A lovely stop-motion animated movie about children in a French orphanage. I wasn't really a fan of the art style, but it's the wonderful dialogue that sets this film apart from the Disney animated movies and its 70 minute runtime means there is no filler. | 8 | |
Molly's Game | 2017 | An interesting tale of the rise from PA to millionaire poker queen. Brilliantly acted by Chastain and Elba, but the overly sanctimonious last 15 minutes detracts and the film paints Molly in far too much of a good light to be the full story. | 7 | |
Coco | 2017 | Beautifully animated and very well told tale of remembering our loves and loved ones, but these these emotional animated adventures have become a production line and the genre needs a rethink. | 7 | |
Blomkamp Collection (Shorts 2004-07) | 2007 | It is great to see some of these shorts made it to the big screen. Chappie is obviously part Tetra Vaal, part Tempbot, part Yellow. Alive in Joburg IS District 9. At about 35 minutes in total, these films are a must watch! | 8 | |
Professor Martson and the Wonder Woman | 2017 | The 'true' story of the Wonder Woman and lie detector creator and his polyamorous marriage. For all its lofty notions of love and freedom, it just came off as a contrived film about sex. | 6 | |
U is for Unearthed | 2012 | This first-person horror short was part of the ABCs of Death anthology and has all of Wheatley's trademarks; fear, violence and vengeance. The film is available on Youtube. | 7 | |
Darkest Hour | 2017 | An amazing performance from Oldman and a wonderful tale of an unliked man letting nothing stand in the way of greatness. Shows the heart of the man without shying too far from his demons. | 8 | |
An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power | 2017 | Al Gore's difficult 2nd album suffers from too much filler and not enough bangers. But the arrival of a new villain in Donald Trump towards the end sets up what could be a fascinating final act to the trilogy. | 6 | |
I Am Not Your Negro | 2016 | An enthralling interpretation of James Baldwin's strong words on how racism has changed and yet stayed the same across America. A film that is all too relevant 50 years on from the murders of Martin Luther King, Malcom X and Medgar Evers. | 7 | |
City of Ghosts | 2017 | Fascinating story of a brave group of amateur journalists and their fight to tell the world of the suffering in Raqqa, Syria. Not just their home town, but also claimed as the capital of the ISIS caliphate. Both graphic and incredibly personal. | 8 | |
All the Money in the World | 2017 | A disappointingly thrill-less thriller whose sole purpose seems to be to tell the viewer how much the richest man in the world loves money. Ridley Scott is still searching for his redemption film. | 5 | |
Murder on the Orient Express | 2017 | Whilst lavish and star-studded, the film relies a little to much on its casts pulling power, but still manages to deliver a fine, if not especially outstanding, interpretation of Agatha Christie's classic. | 7 | |
Mom and Dad | 2017 | Even for Nic Cage this is one messed up film! Two kids fight to stay alive as a mysterious wave of parents killing their offspring hits town. Funny, sick and damn good fun! | 7 | |
Final Portrait | 2017 | A gentle and often funny portrayal of a 2 hour portrait sitting that ended up lasting around three weeks. If not for misconduct allegations, Geoffrey Rush would surely have been up for awards for his portrayal of Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti. | 6 | |
Icarus | 2017 | A fascinating documentary of two halves. Starting as an expose into beating drug tests in cycling, it ends up a thriller about the Russian state sponsored doping regime. | 9 |
