A long time classic video gamer, Gordon founded Replay Events, a company dedicated to showcasing the best retro consoles and computers of the last 40 years.

With his unhealthy love of Stallone movies and an obsessive need to watch every film ever nominated for a major award, he is aways ready with an (un?)educated opinion.

Away from MovieMuse Gordon is an avid follower of Liverpool and Huddersfield Town football clubs and lives in Halifax with his Star Wars loving fiancée Nancy.

Gordon is responsible for the MovieMuse website and co-edits the MovieMuse podcast.

Last men in Aleppo 2017 A harrowing film about the struggles of the white helmets, a group of civilian rescue teams who search the rubble of bomb sights to find survivors in the city of Aleppo, Syria. Expertly shows how war can all of a sudden become normality. 7
Kingdom of Us 2017 The most heart wrenching documentary I have ever seen. Depression and grief laid bare by a family of six, reeling from the suicide of the father. All six have their own story and each one is beautiful. 9
God's Own Country 2017 Despite a slightly ropey lead performance, Francis Lee's writing and directorial debut is a beautiful tale of love, self destruction and redemption in the wilds of Yorkshire. Brokeback Mountain for the real world. 8
Please Stand By 2017 A well-meaning but ultimately poor attempt at autism awareness that comes across as twee and trite in all the places it tries to be emotional. 4
On Body and Soul 2017 A gentle study of crippling introversion and self image that juxtaposes a charming relationship with the brutality of a slaughterhouse. 8
Mudbound 2017 The lives of two very different farming families in 1940s Mississippi. The story is a little too long but is told well through some strong performances. 7
I am Not a Witch 2017 A wonderful satire of the Zambian government's treatment of women accused of witchcraft. Funny and thought provoking with some fantastic visuals. 8
Ferdinand 2018 An amusing and family friendly slice of animal rights and non-violent protest activism. 7
Lies We Tell 2017 Despite the disingenuous plastering of Harvey Keitel on the poster and the director playing Bradford landmark bingo, Lies is a safe but presentable cross-culture thriller. 6
A Fantastic Woman 2017 Chilean film about a mistress who suffers prejudice and intimidation when her married boyfriend dies. There is a major plot twist that is revealed early on and the film holds your interest from then on. 7
The Adventures of Andre and Wally B. 1984 An interesting piece of technical history, but this tech demo is no better than home video games were producing just 5 or 6 years later. 4
Luxo Jr. 1986 Probably the most important animation Pixar has made. Setting the scene for the Pixar of the future, Luxo makes lovable characters of inanimate objects with humour and CGI that still still looks fresh today. 8
Red's Dream 1987 Despite featuring another lovable character and some fine background animation, the ugly and disappointingly animated clown character detracts from the overall appeal. 6
Tin Toy 1988 It is easy to see how this film was the catalyst for everything that was to come, but despite winning an Oscar animating human characters proves too big a challenge, meaning it is hard to connect with the film. 5
Knick Knack 1989 As much as the animation is great, the real step forward is in the writing. Knick Knack attempts to escape his snow globe are funny and engaging in a way that only Luxo had previously managed. 8
Geri's Game 1997 Another Oscar winning short for Pixar and this time it is richly deserved. The tale of a lonley old man playing chess against himself is sad, funny and stunningly animated. Pixar perfection. 10
For the Birds 2000 The original Angry Birds. Yet another Another deserved Oscar win and if this short isn't the inspiration for the art style and mechanics of the videogame sensation then I'm a monkey's uncle. 8
Mike's New Car 2002 Trading far too much on the Monster's Inc. characters and neglecting any kind of story. Seems more like a deleted scene than a short in its own right. 5
Boundin' 2003 The Pixar shorts that deliver a full story rather than a single gimmick are always the best and Boundin' delivers just that through a wonderful and wacky sing-a-long ditty. 9
One Man Band 2005 Two one-man-bands compete for a coin destined for the wishing well. Some ingenious contraptions and a nice ending, but there is nothing new on offer. 6
Jack-Jack Attack 2005 The best of the shorts based on full Pixar movies, Jack-Jack has great characters and a nice self contained Incredibles plot. 8
Mater and the Ghost Light 2006 Ghost Light is a great advert for the Cars films as all of the residents of Radiator Springs are on display, but the story is a little weak and maybe even a little too long. 7
Lifted 2006 An Alien takes his abduction driving test. Nicely animated, but doesn't have the character, humour or charm of other Pixar shorts. 5
The Damned United 2009 This Brian Clough biopic is billed as the tale of his disastrous 44 days as Leeds manager. But more than that is a tale of ambition, obsession and redemption that is full of heart and humour. 8
Mike Bassett: England Manager 2001 Enough classically British humour, football in jokes and Tomlinson charm to warm the dourest fans heart. One of the best football films you will see. 8
