Gordon ‘SirClive’ Sinclair is the founder of MovieMuse. A child of the 70s with his heart in the eighties, his dream is to one day wake up like Alex Drake and relive that glorious decade.
A long time classic video gamer, Gordon founded Replay Events, a company dedicated to showcasing the best retro consoles and computers of the last 40 years.
With his unhealthy love of Stallone movies and an obsessive need to watch every film ever nominated for a major award, he is aways ready with an (un?)educated opinion.
Away from MovieMuse Gordon is an avid follower of Liverpool and Huddersfield Town football clubs and lives in Halifax with his Star Wars loving fiancée Nancy.
Gordon is responsible for the MovieMuse website and co-edits the MovieMuse podcast.

Gordon’s Reviews
Poster | Movie | Year | Comments | Rating |
---|---|---|---|---|
The Long Good Friday | 1980 | Aged but stylish Brit gangster flick. Perfect for playing 'spot the TV actor', but has a misplaced Carpenter-esque soundtrack. | 6 | |
A Christmas Carol | 1984 | One of the definitive tellings of a well known tale. Tiny Tim is annoying though! | 7 | |
The Lords of Flatbush | 1974 | Like a Happy Days spin off without the Cunningams. The film that started the Stallone/Gere fued. | 6 | |
A Field in England | 2013 | Some arty scenes made me want to dislike the film but somehow I couldn't. The black and white cinematography was unnecessary, but the dialogue and drama were superb. | 8 | |
The Martian | 2015 | At its best when it is just Damon and the camera, so the start and end are a bit flat. Some odd secondary casting too. | 7 | |
The Ones Below | 2015 | The slow first two thirds makes the final act all the more impactful. But you may not stick around long enough to see it. | 7 | |
A United Kingdom | 2016 | Not as hard hitting as I’d hoped, but an important story told very well (if not entirely truthfully). | 8 | |
The Program | 2015 | The cycling is well shot, but the film is let down by poor acting and direction. | 5 | |
Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie | 2016 | A blatant vanity project for Jennifer Saunders with very little genuine entertainment. | 4 | |
The Puffy Chair | 2005 | Interesting road movie/relaitionship flick with some great performances. Like most mumble-core it makes you decide more than it tells you. | 7 | |
AdULTHOOD | 2008 | More heart and smoother direction than KiDULTHOOD, but just as gritty, violent and real. | 8 | |
The Purge | 2013 | A brilliantly realised scary concept with dangerous social parallels to modern America. | 8 | |
Algorithm | 2014 | Either a good student project or a poor professional release. You decide. | 4 | |
The Purge: Anarchy | 2014 | A 'Warriors' style cross town journey through hell that may not reach the heights of its predecessors, but has enough of its own thrills. | 6 | |
The Purge: Election Year | 2016 | Whilst it adds nothing new to the series, Election Year is a more than satisfactory conclusion to the trilogy. | 6 | |
The Reluctant Fundamentalist | 2012 | A classy way to show how it is possible to fall in and out of love with America and how not being with us doesn't not necessarily mean being against us. | 7 | |
The Revenant | 2015 | Click to see our detailed review. | 8 | |
America 3000 | 1986 | An entertaining and well made b-movie that follows all the standard tropes, but is no worse for it. | 6 | |
The Shallows | 2016 | Beautifully shot and avoids falling for most of the obvious temptation to go down the horror route to deliver a genuinely exciting shark survival thriller. | 8 | |
American History X | 1998 | Brutal start and slow thoughtful end doesn't make for the best entertainment, but it serves the narrative far more. A little too convenient in places, but hits hard enough when needed and has some great performances from its leads. | 8 | |
American Ultra | 2015 | Like a feature length episode of Chuck with all the jokes removed and replaced by gore. | 4 | |
The Train to Busan | 2016 | More heart than most Zombie films and doesn’t over-rely on CGI. It can be long before it gets a Hollywood remake. | 8 | |
Amy | 2015 | Whilst it offers small glimpes of insight, it is a documentary by numbers that avoids any level of detail. | 5 | |
The Trust | 2016 | Excellent heist movie with a twist. Great performances from Cage and Wood who play the opposite of what you would expect. | 8 | |
Anomalisa | 2015 | A small but perfectly chosen voice cast complement the wonderful animation and Charlie Kaufman’s excellent script. Plus, You've never seen a more real and touching sex scene that the one between two puppets in this film! | 9 |
