PODCAST 18: Club #14 – Brick

The MovieMuse crew like waffling on about movies almost as much as watching them, so rather than talk to the dog about the comedic overtones of Se7en or the Wellesian influence on Police Academy, we thought we would record our chats, add a few trailers and movie clips and set them free on the world like a pensioner from cocoon.

For our fourteenth film club Gordon chose the 2005 directorial debut of the latest Star Wars director Rian Johnson. Brick is a contemporary hard boiled noir thriller starring Joseph Gordon Levitt.

Summary

Whilst the team (mostly) found the film an interesting and intriguing twist on the classic noirs of old, it had perhaps too many unlikeable characters and played a little too much on its clever dialogue.
