A long time classic video gamer, Gordon founded Replay Events, a company dedicated to showcasing the best retro consoles and computers of the last 40 years.

With his unhealthy love of Stallone movies and an obsessive need to watch every film ever nominated for a major award, he is aways ready with an (un?)educated opinion.

Gordon is responsible for the MovieMuse website and co-edits the MovieMuse podcast.

Lady and the Tramp 2019 The move from animation to live action strips all the charm from the film and make the songs superfluous. The CGI doesn't help matters either and I really didn't care if they escaped the dogcatcher or not. 5
Blue Story 2019 A clever cautionary tale about the futility of gang culture. Told with heart and a great voiceover/narration in the form of Rapman's music. 8
The Rhythm Section 2020 Despite some great direction, good performances and a killer electronic score, the ludicrous evolution from down and out junkie to international assassin is all too easy. 6
Vivarium 2019 A twisted tale of a couple trapped in a house with an abnormally ageing child. Surprisingly apt in the current state of forced seclusion and has a freaky, foreboding sense of isolation and despair. 7
The Wizard 1989 Road trip bonding movie on a journey to a Nintendo championship. A nostalgic feel good family film with a few disturbingly adult themes and next level product placement. Probably deserves a lower score, but I am a sucker for a videogame theme. 6
Queen & Slim 2019 An almost perfect film follows first daters as they go on a road-trip to evade the police when they accidentally kill a traffic cop. Stunning performances, production and soundtrack. 9
Crooklyn 1994 Spike Lee's semi-autobiographical family drama is a stunningly presented look at 70s Brooklyn and the people that inhabit it. Though the story doesn't hit as hard as you might hope. 7
Midnight Run 1988 Despite being a run of the mill buddy-cop style farce, DeNiro and Godin's chemistry and the ridiculousness of the situation (ex-cop bounty hunter and his mark racing from NY to LA while on the run from a crime boss and the FBI) makes for a fun 2 hours. 7
Extraction 2020 Mercenary extracts criminal's son from another criminal. The Dhakar setting is refreshing and If you want two hours of gun-fights followed by fist-fights then look no further. If you want dialogue and a plot that runs to more than two lines, look away. 5
Finding Dory 2016 A wonderful sequel sees Dory off in search of her parents. Some great new characters (like the wonderful octopus Hank), locations and comedy make Dory an improvement on the already excellent Finding Nemo. 8
Northern Soul 2014 A film that explores the youth culture of 1970s Northern England as two young lads meet and form a bond over their love of Northern Soul music. Well worth it if you are a fan of the music or just like a good buddy drama. 7
Weekender 2011 The fun ends and the misery begins all too quickly as a group of teens fight drug habits and rival street gangs as they look to become legends in the Rave scene. Jack O'Connel is great, but the rest of the acting is well below par. 5
The Incredibles 2004 A premise that couldn’t go wrong. Or so we thought. A rather dull tale of a not very super family of heroes. Certainly Pixar’s worst of the early years and a massive missed opportunity that still hasn’t been fulfilled. 5
Finding Nemo 2003 The Incredible Journey for the CGI generation. Whilst it isn’t a film I would re-watch too often, Finding Nemo is a genuine classic of the genre and introduced some wonderful and unexpected heroes. 7
Monsters Inc 2001 Mike and Sully are Pixar’s best ever double act and the cutesy-horror story of monsters in the closet is told with perfect pacing and tons of heart. 8
Toy Story 1995 Toy Story suffers a little from its bloated midriff, but it still remains a nice play on the coming of age buddy movie with a bit of Pinocchio thrown in for good measure. 7
A Bug's Life 1998 Where Pixar really hit their stride. The animation was above that of anything that came before (including the competing Antz) and the dichotomy of being an individual whilst still remaining part of the collective made for an entertaining and comic tale. 8
Star Wars: The Phantom Menace 1999 As the first Star Wars film for over 15 years, Episode I was never likely to live up to the hype. The laboured plot and several annoying characters didn’t help, but the film still included some great action sequences and arguably the best lightsaber due 8
The Secret of Kells 2009 A hit and miss blending of too many art styles, awful voice acting and an unnecessarily convoluted plot blight what could have been a charming tale. 5
Star Crash 1978 More fun than expected, but is never going to challenge likes of Star Wars in terms of action, special effects or adventure. A surprisingly good soundtrack and some great costumes help it. 4
Coherence 2013 I was gripped from start to finish. Coherence presents a mind-bending but believable tale with a creepy sense of foreboding that will have you on edge throughout. 9
Star Wars: Attack of the Clones 2002 The worst of all the Star Wars films by a long way due to its inclusion of an awful love story and some dreadful set pieces. But on returning to the film this year I found it much less offensive than I had remembered. 4
Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith 2005 The prequel trilogy stumbles to a conclusion with more terrible acting and unnecessary CGI action sequences. Anakin’s turn to the dark side almost seems like an afterthought, but at least we finally get the pay off during the last half hour with the lon 6
Star Wars: The Force Awakens 2015 Wow, what a ride that was! Not exactly breaking new ground story-wise, but the film hit virtually every branch of the fandom tree as it fell to earth and the humour level is set perfectly. 8
Alien 3 1992 A perfectly good film that sits comfortably (but a bit lower) on the podium with the first two. If they had only gone with more physical effects on the xeno, rather than the poor CGI then I would have rated it higher. 6
