Gordon ‘SirClive’ Sinclair is the founder of MovieMuse. A child of the 70s with his heart in the eighties, his dream is to one day wake up like Alex Drake and relive that glorious decade.
A long time classic video gamer, Gordon founded Replay Events, a company dedicated to showcasing the best retro consoles and computers of the last 40 years.
With his unhealthy love of Stallone movies and an obsessive need to watch every film ever nominated for a major award, he is aways ready with an (un?)educated opinion.
Away from MovieMuse Gordon is an avid follower of Liverpool and Huddersfield Town football clubs and lives in Halifax with his Star Wars loving fiancée Nancy.
Gordon is responsible for the MovieMuse website and co-edits the MovieMuse podcast.

Gordon’s Reviews
Poster | Movie | Year | Comments | Rating |
---|---|---|---|---|
Zootopia (Zootropolis) | 2016 | Clever, very funny and delivering a timely message. Disney's best animated movie for years. | 8 | |
Cafe Society | 2016 | Eisenberg makes a great Woody Allen mini-me, but the film feels all to safe. | 6 | |
Capone | 1975 | Generic gangster fare that doesn't seem to know what its goal is. Dishonest in its modern marketing as a Stallone film. | 5 | |
Elstree 1976 | 2016 | A jolly nice chat with some jolly nice people who just happen to have been in small film called Star Wars. | 7 | |
Captain America: The First Avenger | 2011 | Way too long but does an excellent job in making the backstory of one of Marvel's dullest characters exciting. | 8 | |
300 | 2006 | Typical Zach Snyder. Beautiful to look at and some nice action, but half an hour too long and far too much use of slow motion. | 6 | |
Captain America: The Winter Soldier | 2014 | Not quite a match for The FirstAvenger as the Cap and Bucky bromance feels misplaced. | 7 | |
Captain America: Civil War | 2016 | Despite being a tad long (like all of the Cap films) and the big fight scene ultimately proving pointless, CapAm:CivWar is the best Avengers film yet. I'll be glad when the Cap/Bucky love-in is over however. | 8 | |
Captain Fantastic | 2016 | As soon as the road trip starts so does the movie. As socialist a movie as 'I, Daniel Blake' but nowhere near as obvious about it. | 7 | |
Carol | 2015 | Not really about Carol at all, the film is nicely shot but far too predictable. | 7 | |
Casablanca | 1942 | Great dialogue and performances, but after 40 years of mis-quoted impressions the real correct lines feel wrong! | 8 | |
Catch Me Daddy | 2014 | Bleak and brutal. Raw and beautifully shot. | 8 | |
Central Intelligence | 2016 | Tries its best to ruin things for itself with some shockingly bad jokes, but is still the best Hollywood buddy-comedy for some time. | 7 | |
Changing Lanes | 2002 | An emotional thriller that makes you feel every twist of the knife. | 8 | |
Chi-Raq | 2016 | Powerful stuff. Some amazing monologues tear the American gun lobby and street gang culture to shreds. | 8 | |
Child 44 | 2015 | A great story brilliantly told. I hope to see more of the books translated to film. | 8 | |
Cinderella | 2015 | Pointless retelling of the same old story. Adds nothing new and has some wincingly bad supporting performances (Rob Brydon. Why?). | 4 | |
Cliffhanger | 1993 | Stallone in a more subdued action role. The climbing scenes are very well shot. | 7 | |
ClownTown | 2016 | Terrible modern horror that repeats the bad old days of no plot, skill or worth. | 3 | |
Cobra | 1986 | Low budget visuals let down what could have been one of the great 80s action flicks, but the humour keeps it ticking along. | 6 | |
Convenience | 2015 | An enjoyable farce that is reminiscent of 4 Lions in tone rather than subject matter. | 6 | |
Couple in a Hole | 2015 | I have never felt so much tension in a film or seen the pain of the characters so clearly. | 8 | |
Creed | 2015 | Rocky's rebirth as a cross between Mickey and Apollo is played to perfection by Stallone and is the perfect way to create a new franchise. | 8 | |
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Sword of Destiny | 2016 | Lacking the stye and substance of the original, it feels like a collection of set pieces around a flimsy story. Even some of the Wuxia wire-work is disappointing. | 5 | |
Cyrus | 2010 | Marisa Tomei makes the film worthwhile. Just. | 5 |
